Ever been told by some stranger you've never met before, some creepy old man, or drunk jock at your place of work, maybe a restaurant or pub you used to work at, or some preppy pretty boy with too much confidence, a superiority complex, or misogynistic view of the world he inherited from his father, who inherited it from HIS father and the nuclear family he grew up in, where his mother smiled through her depression with a few too many quaaludes... that you'd "LOOK SO MUCH BETTER IF YOU JUST SMILED MORE OFTEN"?? How about, "YOU'D LOOK SO MUCH PRETTIER IF YOU JUST SMILED ONCE IN A WHILE"? Or, "C'MON DOLL, IT CAN'T BE THAT BAD. WHY NOT GIVE ME A SMILE?" How friggin rude and sexist is it to be talked to that way?? And how many times are boys or even grown men asked the same thing? The answer to that is NEVER!! Like you owe it TO ANYONE to smile when you don't feel like it or it's not genuine!! GAWD DAMMIT, I HATE THAT SH*T!!! And so does Wednesday Addams. You don't owe anyone a smile. You don't need to pretend to be happy when you're not! Be sullen, be spooky, be happy if you are of course. And i hope you are happy enough to smile from time to time... but only of your own accord, and not because you're TOLD YOU SHOULD. Be like Wednesday Addams. Be yourself.
