Both of these charming vintage porcelain plates have the pierced edge design that is often called a 'ribbon edge' because the holes were frequently threaded through with ribbons to form a decorative wall hanger - a look that can still be used to good effect.
The smaller of the two plates is decorated with swags of roses and other brightly colored small flowers between small floral medallions in black, and with a bright gold pin stripe separating the floral center from the ribbon edge. It measures 6-1/4 inches and is unmarked, although the design style is undoubtedly German..
The larger plate is a Bavarian porcelain depicting a marsh scene with ducks and a sunset in the distance. A scalloped ring of gold decorations runs around the plate inside the pierced edging pattern. Overall, it measures 7-1/4 inches across. It is marked 'Schumann' on the back.
Both pieces are in excellent condition, without cracks, chips, scratches, substantial wear, or any other damage or defect.
And they would definitely look great in somebody's collection - particularly at our value pricing!
